Becoming Free

Shame would whisper if they knew the truth, then they wouldn’t love me

God would counter that self fulfilling prophesy, “You are mine; are you are free”

Shame would whisper, “I am the sum of all life’s failures and disappointments”

God would counter that self fulfilling lie; ” I will turn those things into divine appointments”

How can I escape this prison and remove the shackles that have had me bound?

Only the unchanging, eternal love of a pure and perfect being can cause those chains to fall upon the ground

Only the love of God can restore, for you are designed with purpose and intent

Rest in his loving arms just as you are.  You will be content.

And when you feel unsure, and those same feelings start to arise

Run back again into his loving arms, for they are always  open wide

He loves you. How he longs for you; exactly as you are

All your flaws and imperfections, have been covered by his scars

Feeling the warmth of the fathers embrace, will expell every fear

Draw close to him , draw close to him for the time is drawing near

Every tongue on heaven and earth will declare Jesus Christ is Lord

Exchange your shame with love today.  He will plant your feet firmly like a deer.

And when the seasons are dry, he will lead to you a stream

Flowing with life, abounding in grace, through his blood you’ve been cleaned

You don’t have to work for this love, for he has provided a way

You don’t have to strive for perfection, he desires for you to stay

For shame is a liar, it comes to steal your soul

Exchange the lies for truth today, you can become whole

Shout back, “I am loved, I have been forgiven, in that I can stand tall”

No matter what the circumstances are, you serve a God is not small
